My Reflection

MY REFLECTION

               I had a lot of reservation when I heard that I had to do this course. One of the main reasons is because I am not too abreast with the use of technology.  At the first class I was introduce to all the course entails and the assignments that we would have to complete. This made me more worried as to what was required of me was very unfamiliar and just seems hard.

               As the classes progress I was introduce to the different tools that I can use in my class to make it more interesting. The first thing we did was to create a PowerPoint on the philosophers of learning. Even though I had some knowledge as to how to create a PowerPoint, but there were some features available for me to use which I was not aware of. I also garnered information about the creation of a PowerPoint that I didn’t know about. Information such as: a single slide should not have more than six lines of information at a time and the presentation should be interactive and properly organize. I also learnt how to use hyperlinks which made the presentation much more interesting.

               The next thing I was introduced to was the creation and the use of blog.  This was very enlightening to me and I found pretty cool. The instructor took us through step by step in the creation of our blogs. I learnt how to had pages and post. Additionally, we look at how to hyperlink videos and other website.

               Web quest was the next venture. Of all this is the one I loved the most. I see how I can effective in cooperate it in my class right away. It is design for easy use. I believe the students will love using this and the teacher can use it as an extended activity for students to have further practice at home during their spare time.

               In creating my wikia I had a lot of challenges. As a result I lost interest in it. I still went through and complete it because I had to for my course work. However, I doubt I will be using it further as I might encounter the same problems which will only get me flustered and frustration. Despite all of that it is still a good site to use as it allows students to make adjustments to what is posted and add their own work as well. This will make the students feel good about themselves, as their work/views will be published on the Internet.

               This is where I got the biggest shock of all, the creation of my podcast. At first when I heard about podcast I thought that it had to be about video conferencing. My surprise came about after I have created a voice recording using audacity I was then told by my lecturer that, that is the podcast. Little did I know that podcast can be both visual and auditory. I will definitely be using this in my lessons. I will also introduce it to students for them to use in presentations that they will be doing for me.

               The philosophy that I had to do for this course has really changed my view of the use of technology in the teaching and learning process. I did not only write it because I had to for my coursework but I will also apply it to my professional life starting the new school year.

               At the end of the course I am truly appreciative that I was introduce to the course and have completed it. This will help me to perform by job better and to keep in line with the new requires form the Ministry of Education about the new curriculum which rest heavily of the integration of ICT.
